Tips for your stay in Taipei

ARRIVAL FROM THE AIRPPORT
Transportation from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to the Taipei International Convention Center (TICC):
Taxi:
Terminal 1: Meeting point 26 / Terminal 2: Arrivals Lobby.
The ride by taxi takes about 40 minutes and the costs are approximately NT$1,200. Some taxis only take cash, so you should ask if you can pay by VISA card before taking the ride.

MRT: Take the Taoyuan Airport MRT to Taipei Main Station, and transfer to the Tamsui-Xinyi Line (Red Line) to Taipei 101/ World Trade Center Station. It is about a 1-minute walk from there to the TICC. The entire journey takes about 1 hour and costs approximately NT$175.

Public transportation: Take a bus from the airport to Taipei Main Station, transfer to the Tamsui-Xinyi Line (Red Line) to Taipei 101/ World Trade Center Station. It is about a 1-minute walk from there to the TICC. The entire journey takes about 1.5 hours and costs approximately NT$160.

EASYCARD
EasyCard, provided in each delegate’s handbag, is a contactless smartcard that will make your life in Taiwan easy and cashless. The card can be used on most types of public transportation (Metro, buses, trains, and taxis), and many places also accept EasyCard for purchasing goods (convenience stores, supermarkets, fast food restaurants, cafés, and drink shops).

TAXI
To hail a taxi on the streets is easy in Taipei. Although some taxi drivers can speak basic English, it is recommended to have the Chinese address/name of your destination ready for the driver to ensure a smooth ride.

TIPPING
Tipping is generally not practiced in Taiwan.

SMOKING
Smoking only allowed outdoors and in designated areas.

DRINKING WATER
Water dispensers will be placed in the conference venue.
